Q: What is the toyota tundra called that has the 4 full doors?
Because im looking for one that is 2007 or higher but every time i put it to look for a double cab it gets the one with the smaller door in the back.

A: The four door Tundra.

Q: How do you retrain a 2000 Toyota Tundra computer after battery disconnection?
We are the original owners of this vehicle. You would think by now we would have written this valuable info down, but we have not. We had to disconnect the battery today to clean the terminals. We did not use the battery bypass tool. Now the trucks “brain” has to be “retrained”. The problems we are experiencing include: it dies when left to idle, it runs rough etc. I recall having to drive it for a long period of time while keeping it running and at varied rpms. Please help! Thanks!!

A: any time I needed information like this, or anything else, I went down and talked to the parts guy at a big dealership, these guys are often bored to tears when not busy, even inventory is computer controlled now, if you have some small item to buy, get it and ask them some questions I have gotten a lot of free advice by calling on the phone asking for parts, or just going down there for some small thing like a rubber brake pad.

Q: Looking to buy a 2008 toyota tundra?
I am wanting to buy a 2008 toyota tundra, but there are alot of negative reviews wrote about them on the internet.there are also a lot of positive reviews. Can I get some truthful feedback on this subject. No import haters please.

A: I’ve driven two different Tundras, and I hated them both. Both were rentals that my company picked up for mine use.

Out of all the trucks that I’ve owned and driven, this is my most hated. I would own a Nissan Titan before the Tundra.

Both Tundras were the crew cab short bed models, one was 4wd, the other was 2wd. Other than that, they were optioned pretty much identical.

I found the seating to be comfortable. Interior noise is comparable to others. The stereo sound is comparable to other manufacturers, though I hate how it is offset to the passenger side of the cab. That little computer readout for the clock/temperature/mileage on the dash is next to impossible to read unless it is night time.
Running strictly highway miles, I got horrible mileage. The best I could get with the 4wd was 14mpg and I babied the thing. The 2wd model would get 16-17 and I’m approaching ‘hypermiling’ techniques.
Power was good, first gear is nice and low to get a load moving. The trans has some poor tuning though. The truck will not ‘hold’ the lower gear when climbing a hill; say you have the cruise control set. As you climb a hill, the truck downshifts to gain speed after a few mph is lost. When the truck reaches the set speed, it will up-shift and the truck is not capable of pulling the hill in the taller gear. Then it will lose speed, downshift, and a cycle begins… You must lock the trans out of the taller gear. My ‘97 GMC will hold the shift when climbing a hill, will not up shift unless it has the ability to pull the hill in the taller gear.

The frame has a lot of flex. Driving over expansion joints on a concrete road are horrible. Of course, all trucks are going to flex some (rhythmic bouncing), and it will also depend on speed and wheelbase, but the Tundra has been the worst ride!!! I’ve driven a late model Ford (same wheelbase) over the same road and it was a ton smoother.

A: Don’t risk installing it yourself….

Q: What is the best subwoofer for my 2000 Toyota Tundra?
I have an enclosure that will fit 2 8″ subs. I’ve checked out Kicker and JL Audio. Any other advice?

A: Typically, the enclosure is designed around the sub. You’ll have to pour in some research to find a sub that’s best suited for the type/size enclosure you have.

Q: What is the best spark plug to use for a 2002 Toyota Tundra V8?
I am currently using Platinum 4. I want to start using Pulstar, or NGK.

A: Use the original plugs the manufacturer recommends. Anything else is just a waste of money as you will see very little if any improvement . Sometimes you will see a decrease in performance. The most improvement you will see buying hot rod plugs is lightening your wallet ………..md

Q: How can i plug my ipod into a 2000 toyota tundra?
My tape deck does not work and i do not like the FM radio plugs. Is there any outlet that i could plug a auxiliary cord into or some cord that converts to an auxiliary cord?

A: the best way is to use an fm transmitter they cost about $40 at the least for a good one.

Q: What are some good tough chrome rims to put on a lifted 2010 toyota tundra?
I am looking for truck rims in the 18″ category for my truck. I am getting it lifted with 35″ mud terrain tires and need rim ideas. So if you could please help me out on some good brands.

A: you really shouldn’t put chrome with mud tires

Q: Where can I buy the tool required to remove the oil filter on a 2007 Toyota Tundra?
Nah, it calls for a stupid special tool. I’ve asked at the auto parts and they say they dont carry it and cant get it.

A: Any auto parts store.

Q: How do you rest the ecu on a 2010 Toyota Tundra?
I have done some mods and I need to reset the ecu.

A: Usually what I do is just turn off the truck and disconnect the negative cable on the battery. Let it sit for 5-10mins and it should reset the ecu. Then you’ll be ready to connect it and start her back up.

Q: How much can a 2006 Double Cab Toyota Tundra SR5 V8 pull?
Has anybody had experience pulling a trailer with this type of truck? I’m looking to buy a 3 horse gooseneck trailer and was wondering if it could handle it. So if you have had any experience in pulling a trailer with this truck, please let me know! Thanks!

A: idk about 12000 i guess

Q: Which should I get a toyota tundra or an fj cruiser?
I have a 2005 mustang convertible I got as a present.. well it was my mom’s and I don’t really like it so I’m selling it next month and I’m having a hell of a time choosing between the two.. So tundra or fj?

A: Get the Tundra. I’m not a fan of each (eventhough I am a Toyota fan), but the Tundra will be a better investment in the future. Fj is simply a fad vehicle. Reliable? Yes, but it still is a fad vehicle.

Q: What problems have you had with your 2007 Toyota Tundra or Nissan Titan? It’s too early for official results.
My husband is looking to purchase a Tundra or Titan, but there are no official results on the 2007 models as of yet that he can find on the internet. We don’t know that the dealerships would necessarily be honest in their opinions on the vehicles. The Titan has had some issues in the past with the brakes which is a major concern. Was it resolved in the 2007 model?

A: Trust me, since 2006 and 2007 the Titan has been the highest rated full size truck. Toyota is good but the tundra is in its first year, so you may want to avoid it until the 2009 model, or a late 2008. But the Titan is definitely a great choice.

Q: To those who use a pick up truck as a work truck, what is your opinion/experience with the Toyota Tundra?
Is the Tundra a better work truck than a Ford, Dodge or GM truck. Assuming all are made in America, what is your preference that makes you have brand loyalty? What is your story? Is it the miles? The toughness of the truck? What specifically?

A: GM products are easier to change wires plugs . diesels don’t even have that though filters have to be changed and thats easier.

Q: What’s your experience with the Toyota Tundra V8?
I’m considering a 2001 Toyota Tundra truck. Reasonably priced, but I’m more interested in this communities experiences, praises, or dilemnas in the ownership of this vehicle/make of…please help.
I do have a Truck requirement…

A: It only burns a lot of gas if you have a heavy foot. I own a ‘02 with 74K miles, original brakes, gets 22 mpg on the fwy, never had a problem yet.

The only gripe I have is I would like more H/P, but I’m too cheap to put on a supercharger, so I have to let the guys in the Titans win.
