Q: how much would my 2001 ford escape cost without transmission?
I have a 2001 Ford Escape that I want to sell. It has 150K miles, but the transmission is shot. I’m not sure if I wanna fix the transmission, and instead, just sell it as it is. Does anyone know how much I would be getting for my car if I sold it as is? Approx?
A: 200 dollars at the junk yard.
Q: What would be the best muffler for a 2005 ford escape?
the previous owners of my 2005 ford escape made the muffler loud and i dont like the loudness. im looking for a QUIET muffler for the car. its a 2005 ford escape and please tell me the price of a new muffler
A: $25 and size 3×5
Q: Can you switch from synthetic oil to regular oil in a Ford Escape (08)?
I was on a trip, and decided to get my oil changed at a Valvoline, and they said that they recommended their regular oil. They put that in, and on my way home, I remembered that there was synthetic oil in there previously. Now, when I am at a stop, my engine shakes, causing vibrations that can be heard and felt. Is it okay that there is regular oil in my Ford Escape?
A: NO. Do not change from synthetic to regular, especially in a 2008 model engine. You have a 2008 vehicle under warranty, take it to the dealer for oil changes. This is NOT common knowledge so don’t take personally. You may have some dealer perks you may not be aware of, like free oil changes, or discounts. All within the warranty of the vehicle. Check paperwork to verify.
The original engine oil in a 2008 Ford is 5W-20. At its lowest it would be a combination of regular and synthetic. This type of oil is generally a looser oil than regular. It generally covers areas that regular oil cannot.
To give a recommendation of ‘yes’ does not take into consideration that a newer vehicle, just like a baseball player’s glove, needs to be broken in .
The person who sold you that oil recommended you that oil because he/she is a salesman. As a former auto parts salesman, I can tell you that there is a fine line between offering factual advice and selling a part. Sometimes it is DANG hard to stay on one side of that line. Rest assured, you’re getting the most factual advice I can give you, which came from 2 years selling experience, and constantly being around those with extensive experience.
~~~~~~~~
Let’s collate the FACTS:
1. You have a vehicle.
2. You have a vehicle which shakes when stopped.
3. Your vehicle did NOT shake at one point in time.
4. You went to a vehicle place to have the vehicle ‘adjusted’.
5. You notice an issue nearly immediately after going there.
6. You can recall what they did to your vehicle.
7. You want the vehicle to stop shaking.
8. You are going to do what you can to remedy the problem.
9. You are curious as to whether or not a party was at fault.
10. You want that determination to be made to your satisfaction.
~~~~~~~~
What to do:
COLLECT INFORMATION FIRST BEFORE TELLING ANYONE ANYTHING:
1. Call up a dealership who did NOT sell you the vehicle, ask for the PARTS department, and ask what the type of oil goes into your 2008 Escape (give them the engine specifications). Ask for a part number, as even the liquid products have part numbers. For part numbers will look similar to this: F3Z5-RF74T6-R29.
2. Hang up, call another dealership who did not sell you the car and ask for the REPAIR SHOP (because it may be the same department. DO this for anonymity). Once there, say, “I have a 2008 Escape with such-and-such an engine. What happens if I were to put something else other than [the type of oil they told you], like maybe, a Valvoline [specific oil in your engine as noted on the Valvoline receipt]?” Take note of how they say it as well as what they say. Seriously, write it down.
3. DRIVE to your dealer’s shop entrance. It will be a large awning with about 3 or 4 lanes one-way (although their maintenance vehicles won’t be obeying the one-way designation). Say, “My engine shakes now, and it started almost immediately after leaving a VALVOLINE oil change place.” Show him/her the receipt. They will check for type of oil and everything. Without telling them everything that you found out, mention to them in small bits at a time as they look at the receipt, “I remember there was synthetic in there before the change, but the employee recommended a different oil.”
After they explain to you the situation, do not hesitiate to ask them, “Is this covered in my LIMITED POWERTRAIN WARRANTY?”
I would like to know what they say if you want, for my experience. You can email me if you want when you find out. You’ll undoubtedly have to pay for the service they perform if not covered by warranty.
Q: Is the ford escape a girly car or not?
I have been haveing alot of debate with many different people and was wondering what the general public thinks. Is the ford escape a manly, girly or gender neutral car?
A: The Escape has been re-styled with a new higher ‘belt-line’ & a much more ‘agressive’ looking front-end & grill…..not the least bit girly! In fact i think it looks much like the Explorers little Brother!
Here’s a downloadable brochure of the new 2008 Escape

Now here’s a 2007 Explorer brochure:

See what I mean?
(of course the color could make it more feminine…..that light blue is just a little ‘girlie’ looking…LOL )
Q: Ford Escape shifter linkage question and where to buy?
My transmission linkage came loose from the tranny last night.. the plastic or rubber piece that comes off of the tranny where it shifts the gears. I can’t seem to find that piece. I have looked on Autozone and Pepboys website, done a search for 2002 Ford Escape automatic shifter linkage, but no luck. Any idea what i’m doing wrong or where I can get this part? Thanks!
A: Call a transmission shop and tell them your problem, alot of them will sell you the part to diy. Or, call the dealer. A Junkyard is also an idea. Online, you can send msgs to a bunch of junkyards via www.junkyarddog.com.
Q: Can a 2008 ford escape haul a 2005 mazda 3?
My Ford Escape is a v6 and I wanted to see if I could haul my Mazda 3 s. The Mazda 3 is a 4 door 4 cylinder car. I need to haul it from NY to CA and I want to see if I can. Also was curious to see if anyone has done such a haul.
A: The car weighs about 2900 pounds, the dolly you’ll need to tow it with will weigh about 200 pounds. So at the very minimum you’re at 3100 pounds. Realistically you’re probably closer to 3200-3300 pounds. Factor in luggage or other belongings you’re probably going to be taking with you, and you’re overloading the vehicle. And then there’s this tidbit (from the owner’s manual)
“For high altitude operation, reduce GCW by 2% per 1000 ft.
(300 meters) elevation. For definitions of terms and instructions on
calculating your vehicle’s load, refer to Vehicle loading in this chapter.
Maximum trailer weights shown. The combined weight of the completed
towing vehicle and the loaded trailer must not exceed the GCWR.”
If you’re crossing the Rockies, then your towing limit goes from 3500 pounds to about 2950 pounds on account of the altitude. Which puts you well over the towing limit.
I don’t think I would attempt such a long tow with an Escape. You will be near or over the towing weight limit.
Q: Anyone else have a problem with a Ford Escape?
I have a 2001 Ford Escape. Sometimes when i’m idle at a light, the engine revs slightly and the needle on the tac goes up. The engine light comes on for weeks then goes off. Now,it sometimes won’t start.
It starts for a second or two then, the engine sputters like it stalled and it shuts down. If I wait about a half hour and try it again, it starts up.
Any Ideas as to what it could be?
A: you need to replace the idle air motor and it will be fixed
Q: Where is the interior “auto” light switch for the 2010 Ford Escape?
We just got a 2010 Ford Escape yesterday and we cant seem to figure out how to get the interior lights to come on when a door opens, and Ive tried looking in the manual but cant seem to figure it out. Can anybody help please?
A: There should be a 3-position switch on the interior lamp itself. You will have to try it because I can’t remember the position for auto lights.
Q: Should I fix up my Ford Escape before selling it?
I want to sell my 2001 Ford Escape. There are some things wrong with it, although none affect driving it. The list is below. I was going to get it appraised at CarMax, and maybe sell it there or else myself online. Should I get these all fixed before I sell it? Or just tell the buyer about it and lower the selling price?
-couple of minor scratches in paint.
-tires are fine, but probably will need to be replaced in a year
-the driver’s airbag light comes on. This has been happening since the day I bought it 2-1/2 years ago. This is a known issue with many Fords apparently.
-The Ford dealership tells me the oilpan is leaking, although I don’t see any dripping in my garage.
-They also say the brake fluid is leaking in the cylinder, although I haven’t had any issues with the brakes at all.
They want to charge about $600 to fix the last two, and $130 just to look at the brake light issue.
It’s got about 90,000 on it.
A: yes

Q: Whats the best color for a ford escape/ mazda tribute?
I cant decide, what do you guys think a good color for a car is.
BQ: What do you prefer mazda tribute or ford escape?
Thanks!
A: They are the same basic car and black or white are the best colors.
Q: a/c on ford escape not working it is only when I accelerate that it gets warm?
Hi I have a 2002 Ford Escape V6 and the a/c is not working it is only when I accelerate that it gets warm when I am sitting still it gets cold.
A: If it is warming up on light acceleration, it is likely low on refrigerant. Those are a pressure based clutch cycling switch set up. When the rpms come up, the low pressure side drops, and if low on refrigerant, the pressure will drop enough to kick out the a/c clutch. It will kick back in, and right back out if the rpms are up or there is lots of airflow over the condenser, like at hwy speeds. At idle, the rpms are low and only fan driven air over the condenser, thus it will stay on and cool somewhat. Get it checked out, those were bad about compressor shaft seals leaking.
Q: How much would it cost to lift my ford escape? and is it two wheel drive for four?
So i have a 2001 ford escape and i really wanna lift it like 2 inches i also want some nice rims and bigger tires? i also dont know if my truck is two wheel drive or four…. its a 2001 escape XLT V6. Also im in the central Florida area if you know of anyone who could do it around me… thanks
A: Try all the stuff on an older model of the 1987 jeep wrangler, that would be cool.
Q: Is there anyway I can get my 01 Ford Escape to “forget” previous key-fob remotes?
Okay, today I lost the remote keyless entry remote (keyfob) to my 01 Ford Escape. While I am going to buy another keyfob, I was wondering if there was any way to get my car to “forget” a previous keyfob so that if someone did happen to find mine they could not use it to gain access to my car. I am unsure how to do this or if it is even possible so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brant
A: Your truck forgets old remotes when you program the new one. You need to do all the remotes you want to be able to use.
Q: removing a cd player from ford escape?
I need help, trying to remove a 6-cd player from a 2002 Ford Escape. I have the DIN u-shaped removal tools, but can’t get the cd player to pop out. I’ve tried pushing them in til it clicks, then pressing outward on the tools like you’re supposed to, but the cd player won’t come out. Any tips?
Ok, thanks Kar Na T, I will have to try those methods. Thanks!
A: on that car you gona need some help.
here is what you do.
get someone to use the u keys you need 2 sets 4 keys, make sure they click and they are pushing the clips. then pup the glove box and push the radio from behind. if you dont have the cassette player on the bottom of the radio. pop that cover out and spray some wd-40 on that metal braket in the middle. also go to the driver side and puto your hand behind a push it out.
if you bust the clips allready no other way that use a screwdriver from the back and push the clips.
good luck on this one. hope it helps
